It produces large brown oval nuts in hard shells which are usually ready for picking from early to late fall.
The nuts have a sweet taste and an oily texture.
The fruit are most often used for fresh eating and baking.
Carpathian English Walnut will grow to be about 50 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 50 feet.
Somewhat self-pollinating, but it tends to set heavier quantities of fruit when planted with a second tree of the same species for pollination.
It should only be grown in full sunlight. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations, and should do just fine under average home landscape conditions. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution.
